Beyblade is about a young boy named Tyson Kinomiya who starts out as a rookie in a newly rising sport named Beyblade. He soon meets new friends, and competes with them in tournaments in hoping to become the world champion!

After Tyson wins the regional tournament, Mr. Dickenson announces that he, Ray, Max, and Kai would form a team and take part in tournaments across the world. Kai becomes their captain, but isn't too pleased about the idea of being in a team.

On their adventure, they travel to China for their first ever tournament, the Asian tournament. They meet Ray's old team the White Tigers. The White Tigers claim that Ray betrayed them, but after beating them in the finals, not only did the Bladebreakers win their first tournament, but they also gained some new friends, who then realised that Ray didn't betray them.

Next stop, America! While on a BBA tour, Max finds that his mother works there, and trains a team called the All Stars. The All Stars are obsessed with science and technology, and think that with it, they're invincible. On the other hand, the Bladebreakers say that you don't need that to win, only spirit and determination. Though at first it seemed as if the All Starts were right, during the finals in the tournament, the Bladebreakers end up victorious!

While heading towards Russia for the World Championships, they get stranded in London after their boat left without them. After Tyson got beaten by this awsome blader named Robert, they travel around Europe beating the elite bladers. In France Tyson tied with Oliver. In Rome he lost against Enrique the first time, but came through in his rematch. Oliver and Enrique brought them to Roberts castle so Tyson could have a rematch. At first Robert refused, but then agreed that they'd have a three on three battle in his new stadium. After creaming them, they find Mr. Dickenson, and resume heading towards Russia.

In Russia, they pass an abbey that gave Kai the creeps. Later on, he goes to explore inside of it, and finds that the reason it felt familiar was that it was because he grew up there. Boris (a guy from the abbey), offers to give Kai Black Dranzer, one of the most powerful blades in the world, in exchange for betraying the Bladebreakers and joining his team. Kai agrees to his offer. The Bladebreakers get the shock of their lives when they see Kai battling for the demolition boys, and as he steals the All Star's bitbeasts after defeating them. He steals the White Tiger's bitbeasts as well. After almost drowing in a lake, Kai rejoins the Bladebreakers seeing he made a big mistake. In the finals, Kai looses his match against Spencer, but Rei and Tyson win their matches (barely), and they become the World Champs!
